Ashtanga Yoga and Ayurveda in One Retreat
Each day includes a morning Mysore-style Ashtanga yoga class. With guidance from both Shiho Akiyama and HANAE, participants can practice at their own pace while receiving support suited to their condition on the day.
After morning practice, the day continues with Ayurvedic doctor consultations, treatments tailored to each guest's constitution, and Ayurvedic meals. Through movement, rest, food, and learning, the retreat offers a quiet opportunity to reconnect with your body and mind.

What You Can Experience at Karunakarala
Karunakarala Ayurveda Resort is an Ayurveda-focused resort located by the river in Waikkal, Sri Lanka. Although it is conveniently close to the airport, the resort is surrounded by nature, where guests can hear birdsong and the sound of trees moving in the breeze. Japanese- and English-speaking local staff are available to support guests throughout their stay.

At Karunakarala, the Ayurveda experience is not limited to doctor consultations and treatments. Time spent resting in the breeze and nourishing the body through food is also an essential part of the stay. Constitution-based meals, herbal and oil treatments, and the quiet riverside environment all support a deeper sense of ease.
The tour also includes satsang, a traditional cooking class, a Negombo shopping tour, and excursions to the UNESCO World Heritage Dambulla Cave Temple and the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Centered on yoga and Ayurveda, the program also offers opportunities to experience Sri Lanka's nature and culture.
